ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE
March 11th-17th, 2024
GRACIE REID
Gracie Reid is an accordion playing singer-songwriter and music producer based in St. John’s. She picked up the accordion as a small child and grew up playing with other musician family friends. Happy to play whatever music she could, she learned to play her accordion in whatever genre was being played around the table that day. This has influenced her original music as her accordion is often featured on her alternative/indie style tracks. She is planning to use her residency time to work on original songs and prepare music for a first release.

LOOPSTITCH
Loopstitch is an experimental musical duo featuring Kate Read and Michelle LaCour. Frequent collaborators since their first artistic encounter at Sound Symposium XIX, the two perform improvised music for amplified viola, accordion, and synthesizers, expanded upon with found sounds, pedals, and loops. Jumping-off points for their improvisations range from Baroque and classical works, to pop songs, to found sounds recorded across Newfoundland & Labrador. Loopstitch has performed at Sound Symposium, Electric Eclectics, the Canadian Music Centre, Freeze Brain, and Hold Fast, and are currently artists-in-residence at Lawnya Vawnya. They were featured on Kate’s solo album, After, released in 2022.
